Student safety and supervision is paramount to our functioning school. The duties below account for the supervision of students at times other than the classroom and that have been deemed appropriate. Assigning duties to administration and faculty is the only way to accomplish our goal of student safety and supervision. Furthermore, administration is poised to cover enough duties to permit NPA’s goal of only 1-duty per week for teaching faculty.

Duty Schedule 2023-24 Semester I and II

The duty schedule is set and based on the zone assignment rotation outlined further along. The duties switch at semester, so please find where you serve for each semester.

Equity and Reasonability

The schedule below meets the supervision, safety, and duty-reduction goals through the collective sharing of supervision by administration and educators. Furthermore, the addition of a zone rotation ensures parity over time.

Updates from SY 2022-23

The duty schedule from SY 2022-23 ended up being uneven with some teachers having 38 duties and some having far fewer. Therefore the sub-pool and one semester duties will stop, with a predictable duty replacing it that rotates by semester.

Zone Rotation

The zones are already established duties that assist a planned rotation and an overarching shared responsibility. Faculty were distributed randomly and each zone will move to the next at each semester. Over two years, teachers will have rotated through each zone one time, e.g. 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 1, etc. The zones are not the duty schedule (that is below) but a way to keep track of who has served where and how to rotate.

Zone 1 (6th/7th grade yard for Lunch/ MPR for lunch with impending weather)

Zone 2 (8th grade yard for lunch/New Building Hallways for lunch with impending weather)

**Zone 3 (**HS yard yard for lunch/Downstairs hallways for lunch with impending weather)

**Zone 4 (**Afternoon Upper and Lower Lot)
